What to do when, so that everything fits on the day
In our studio on Sempacherstrasse we alter dozens of wedding dresses every year – and we keep seeing the same two mistakes: coming to the first fitting too late, and forgetting the groom's suit. This timeline helps you avoid both.
All figures count backwards from the wedding day. Being early makes everything easier; being late means express surcharges or compromises.
Fix the date, the venue and the ceremony. Choose and order the dress: made-to-measure and orders from abroad often take 4–6 months.
Settle the guest list and send save-the-dates. Guests travelling from abroad need this much notice for flights and time off.
Send the invitations. Book rings, flowers and music. Choose the groom's suit – not in the final month.
First fitting at the studio. This is when we see what the dress needs: length, waist, straps, corset, back. We give you the price and the dates straight away.
Second fitting with the shoes you will actually wear on the day, and with the right underwear. Without the right shoes the hem cannot be set properly.
Final fitting and collection. Dress and suit are finished. Replies are in, the seating plan is done.
Have the dress cleaned while the stains are fresh. Wine, grass and make-up are very hard to remove later. We take care of the cleaning in the same building.
Invitations are where most couples lose time: printing, addressing, posting, then chasing people to find out who is actually coming. We are often asked whether there is an easier way – and these days we recommend Birevet.
Birevet is an app for digital wedding invitations. You pick a design, enter your details and send the invitation as a link over WhatsApp or e-mail. Your guests open it in the browser without installing anything and reply straight away. You can see who has answered at any time – which saves the round of phone calls two weeks before the day.
The app is available for iPhone and Android; the invitation itself runs in the browser and works on any device.

Birevet is an independent service and is not part of our studio. We recommend it because our customers have had good experiences with it.
